I have done some plantation on Trail 3 and employ a gardener to water the saplings. I only wish people will show greater consideration for other's efforts and not steal saplings (happened) or pull out supporting twigs to make it into a free walking stick( also happened). A request to all users of the trail not throw used water bottles, face-masks, wrappers in the bushes as its very difficult to retrieve them. Keep the trail clean for other users!

It's a beauty gifted to the residents of Islamabad by nature. All we Pakistani have to do is not throw trash while on it. It is safe and has resting areas along the route. I have done it even at night during summers and found no issues. The gradient challenges people of varying fitness levels. If you really want to push it then take the fire trail part of it. It's suitable for weekend warriors and fit athletes alike. And please please don't throw trash around. Bring back whatever you take along.

I have completed Margalla Hills Trail 3 several times, but everytime you plan to hike the trail, you need ful commitment, determination and courage to fulfil the task. Basically the ideal way to hike the hill is 1) take baby steps 2) put less weight on your upper body, ( means climb/hike in such a way that you do not get tired earlier ) 3) If you are group of more than 4, split into two small group and maintain some distance... active ones should lead and other shld follow, by this both group could take nap and continue to hike with motivation of small targets set by their fellows. 4) Always be on time, Try to come early in the morning , that is a prime time to hike. 5) Always come with some snacks and water or lit breakfast. 6) try to finish your tour before evening, because there is threat of wide animals at late. 7) if you want to decrease your distance when climbing off you can choose trail 5 route as well or monal road route. (Incase if its late or u are tired) Enjoy your hike Thank Me later,

Perfect for people who want to get lost in the nature, away from all the traffic and noises of the city for a short period of time. Trail 3 has got 2 different kinds of tracks, 1 is rocky and really steep, ideal for experienced hikers. The other one is smoother and easier which goes around the mountain so it's a bit longer, it is best for beginners. For beginners I'd recommend not to go alone there, and with complete gear.

Its total 1.5 hr hike to monal view point. 45 min hike is fine but after that very steep mountain leads to monal. The view of Islamabad is charismatic from a specific point. Resting bench are available at every 10 min walk. Overall very refreshing and enjoyable activity.

A little bit challenging route for new comers, if you go straight up. Very adventurous and enjoyed a lot. Keep water bottle, juices, and some fruits with you if you want to go at MONAL.

It starts with gaining height immediately and you will face steep zig-zag paths. Its the best trail for all those hikers or walkers who are interested to reduce their weight with regular trekking and hiking activities. One can also see wildlife and chattering birds in the bushes. A small number of leapards could also be seen rarely. At the mid point there is a pleasant sitting area for sightseeing and to enjoy the weather. A well known trekking and hiking trail on the Margalla Hills, Islamabad. This is lush green and comparatively safe track equally liked by individuals and families. Trail 3(A) is one of the famous trails of Margalla Hills. Somewhat difficult or hard for many people, it touches neighboring Trail 5, Monal Resturant, the beautiful Monal Valley and Margalla Road. It is comparatively steeper hiking trail than other trails around in same area. . It has a more steeper shortcut track called "fire-line" which was setup to control any fire may erupt in the bushes around. Fire-line track is very hard and straight go upwards at about 60 degree angle with little bit rock climbing patches. It gives you beautiful views of Islamabad city and passes through places full of peace and serenity.
