From the outside, it just seems like your run-of-the-mill cramped bookstore from days gone by but it's dilapidated exterior belies the history held within. As you walk into the bookshop, you're exposed to the musty smell of old leather books and crinkled parchment. The books themselves seem like curios from an age long since gone. As the caretaker (a former World Bank employee) was kind enough to tell us, the bookstore has a nice history. Once a bastion of law books that everyone flocked to buy, it had fallen into disrepair once the internet and its dastardly ebook era came in. The caretaker, also an author, is trying to salvage it and create something new. The store gives the cozy feeling of a bookstore built within a house by a closely-knit family who live just above. However, the second floor was a publishing house before being turned into a sort of gallery where artists flaunt their work. I quite enjoyed the watercolour paintings of the city. Unassuming little place but I'd visit for the old parchment maps and the delightful paintings.
