Hasan, the Managing Editor and Shakaib, the Creative Director are co-founders and my partners in crime. Hasan makes sure everything is done on schedule. Shakaib does his best to make sure it doesn’t. Poor, old me does all the rest. The wife, Fareeha, is my Executive Editor and tells me all the ways in which I’m wrong, and how often. Together, we attempt every month to produce a magazine which hopefully both entertains and educates. What We Do In Central Asia, a ‘dastaan’ - Persian for ‘story’ - is oral history told in the form of an ornate story. Such is what we attempt to do here at Dastaan World. We wish to record history while it’s being made, and yet with a different global narrative. We talk about literature, art, music, film, theater, sports, and everything else under the sun that is creative, productive, and beautiful instead of war, hate, politics, and corruption. Dastaan World is a community for writers and poets, artists and musicians. For foodies and travelers and photographers. For singers and actors, performers of all sorts. For readers, movie buffs, and bingers of every show ever made for television. It is a hive for collaboration among creative people. It is the place to meet, work together with, learn from, and maybe even teach, like-minded individuals from a variety of different fields and industries. It is a salon for literary and creative debates late into the night, and for the sharing of ideas, language, and culture with people from all over the world. Lastly, Dastaan World is a platform through which you can achieve visibility, credibility, and success. Each month, we feature short stories, poetry, art, photography, and more - helping creators showcase their talent to the world. It is our sincerest hope that we can help create opportunities for success for everyone who submits their work to us.
