Distanced View! Gurdwara Dera Sahib is a Sikh temple in Lahore, Pakistan, which commemorates the spot where the 5th guru of Sikhism, Guru Arjan Dev, was martyred in 1606... The Guru had undergone torture on the orders of the Mughal emperor Jahangir, at a site in Lahore's walled city that is commemorated by the defunct Gurdwara Lal Khoohi - which has been repurposed into a Muslim shrine by the name of Haq Chaar Yaar. The Guru's torture infuriated his close friend and Muslim mystic, Mian Mir. On the fifth day of torture, the Guru's request for a bath in the river was granted after intercession from Mian Mir. After submerging himself in the river, the Guru reportedly did not reappear, and a Mughal search party was unable to retrieve him....

Visited this beautiful religious site located near badshahi masjid. Only down side is that permission is required for Muslims to go inside the gurdwara or they need at least be with a tour guide. Other than. Great experience
one of the best historical n religious place inbshahi qilla Lahore It was really great feeling to visit gurudwara Dera Sahib. this place in Pakisstan i came to know that the sikh community from all over the world come and pay homage to their religious saint GURU NANAK SAHIB. Pakistan is a tolerant society in this connection i had a close look into it. the people of other faiths feel free to live there as well and practice their beliefs.
It is a Sikh religious pilgrimage site that is visited by thousands of Sikhs all around the year. It is particularly crowded during their religious events like Besakhi. Sikhs visit the site from all around the world especially Pakistan and India. The building though comes under the management of Walled City Lahore Authority, it is still run by Sikh community and their members. They normally never allow Muslims to visit unless one has contacts with their higher members. The structure of Gurdwara is of typical design with a worship place, singing platform for religious songs, display items and a room at the back which is considered to be resting place of Guru Arjun in whose commemoration the Gurdwara is built. The guru is thought to have disappeared in river Ravi while taking bath.
Current under construction and was not able to go in, the original building looked like it need work as the paint colour was fading yellow and brick work crumbing Legs hope they can keep the originality of this gurdwara, important to sikh Heritage and historic to Lahore. Everyone was extremely friendly inside
