The idea to establish an Institute of Journalism (IOJ) was floated in 2016 during the visit of a delegation of German journalists to Pakistan led by Mr. Christian Zarm, President of German Press Federation (DPV), who identified the need to establish a training institution for practicing journalists in Pakistan. Subsequently Mr Aamir Rafique, secretary general of Foundation for Promotion of Academic Collaboration and Mr. Shams-Ul-Haq Qudoos, Director South Asia at DPV Germany joined hands to establish the Institute of Journalism initially as a private limited company in Lahore in Januar 2018. The Institute of Journalism has been established to provide a platform that promotes training, innovation, research and learning in the field of practical Journalism. The Board of Advisors of IOJ consists of eminent and most respected personalities from various sectors of Journalism. Under their guidance and with their support, the IOJ shall promotes education and training in journalism nationally and internationally through Seminars and Workshops, International study visits, Journalism conferences and Professional training courses.
