The National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE) is located in the educational sector H-8 of Islamabad. NISTE is a merger of National Technical Teachers’ Training College (NTTTC) and the Institute for the Promotion of Science Education and Training (IPSET). Presently, it is working as a Subordinate Office of the Capital Administration & Development Division, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad. NISTE is spread over 26 acres of land. It possesses a housing colony for staff; workshops and laboratories equipped with the elaborate equipment in many classical and modern technologies, as well as, applied sciences. It has also an auditorium, conference hall, library and educational resource center, general services, computer centers, syndicate rooms, faculty offices, and five hostels for three hundred trainees/students and visiting national and international guests. More than 45000 teachers of science and technical education have been trained so far in various fields of science and technical education. In addition to achieving its targeted goals the Institute is also offering short duration training courses in IT and different vocational and technical courses for Diploma of Associate Engineers (DAE) and SSC pass students from all over the country, which aim at alleviating poverty from the country. Through these programs, knowledge, skills, competencies and attitudes in line with labour/job market needs are developed. Mission NISTE aims to develop quality work-force by improving science and technical education through training, curricula development based on latest research in different specialized disciplines. The vision of NISTE is to transform the unskilled/semi-skilled manpower into skilled- manpower to play a pivotal role in manufacturing economy and to meet the future needs and bring science and technology into the mainstream.
